"If the photographer is interested in the people in front of his lens, and if he is compassionate, it’s already a lot. The instrument is not the camera but the photographer."— Eve ArnoldHappy World Photography day!About the image;I was staying in a small village near Thanjuvar, Tamil Nadu, India. Shooting some images for a charity at school for under priviledged children. My last morning there I went for a walk and saw this woman walking ahead of me on the side of the road. She was walking on all fours, picking up rocks and putting them in her sari, it broke my heart to see this. I gave her a hundred rupees (about $1.00) and continued on my way. I did not photograph her until later that afternoon. After visiting one of the schools admistrators home for tea and to meet his family I found this woman again waiting outside his home. They told me she was homeless and they looked after her. She was waiting to thank me. I was speechless. Such a sweet lady.#worldphotographyday #compassion #photojournalism #portraitphotographer #passionpassport #portraitsociety #photooftheday #picoftheday #humanitarian #philanthropy #travelwithpurpose
